Upstate Printmakers form Contemporary Print Collective Exhibits at The Art Cellar and UPSTATE Gallery on Main A group of upstate artists and printmakers have joined forces to establish the Contemporary Print Collective with the aim of creating, exhibiting, collaborating and educating audiences on the importance of different print processes in Art. The members of this group encompass Anderson, Greenville and Spartanburg counties. The group seeks to provide a dialogue on contemporary issues in Art, to facilitate a collaboration of learning and resourcing for studio practice, and to provide opportunities for promotion and exhibition of individual and collective works and educational opportunities for all. The Contemporary Print Collective (CPC) is being introduced publicly in two venues, The Art Cellar in downtown Greenville and the UPSTATE Gallery on Main, downtown Spartanburg. Hand pulled original artist prints in limited editions and monotypes, signed and numbered, at affordable prices will be available for viewing and for purchase at both locations. Contemporary Print Collective will show as the November guest exhibition at The Art Cellar located at 123B South Main Street, Greenville SC from November 6th through November 30th. The salon style gallery showcases over 40 local artists with a wide range of mediums, styles, and prices. The artists from the CPC group will be at the gallery’s First Friday art reception from 6pm-9pm on Friday November 6th. Contemporary Print Collective 2015 Print Exposition to show at the UPSTATE Gallery on Main located at 172 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC from November 12th through December 31st. The gallery offers a broad range of cultural, conceptual and technical exhibitions in the visual arts while supporting the mission of the USC Upstate. The artists from the CPC 2015 Print Exposition will be at the Spartanburg Art Walk, held every third Thursday from 5pm-8pm on November 19th and December 17th. CPC is comprised of a variety of well established artists from Upstate South Carolina who work in the medium of hand made artist prints. The collective meets once a month at The Print Shop in Greenville with a mission to foster an awareness for original artist prints by promoting exhibitions, educational opportunities, and encouraging the art of collecting prints.
