Artist Statement
My work is a fusion of functional pottery and surface design, heavily influenced by my grandmother’s china collection, love for gardening, and my lifelong passion for pattern and design.
Combining the techniques of printmaking and ceramics, I create unique pieces of functional pottery and mixed-media artwork that emphasize intricate patterns and surface textures. My process involves layering patterns through carving, embossing, stamping, stenciling, silk screening under glazes, image transfer, and decals. This approach transforms the ceramic surface into a dynamic canvas, rich with layers that often translate into my 2D mixed-media pieces.
Currently, working from my home studio, I find inspiration in my garden, which influences both my designs and my creative process. My latest collection, "In Season," reflects this new phase in my life, where I incorporate natural elements by embossing flowers directly into my clay creations. This collection symbolizes a fresh and exciting chapter, where my love for nature, flowers, and the interplay of blue and white continues to inspire and shape my work.
